Industry is strategic for Catalonia: a country without industry is a weak country. Moreover, the current economic crisis has confirmed the weakness of an economic model that is too dependent on the tertiary sector and construction. This fact, together with the processes of globalizing production, the competition of the emerging countries, and the competitive factors pending resolution (energy prices, rigidity of the job market, and lack of adequate infrastructures), is proof that we have a long way to go.

Foment del Treball is aware of the planning tools and proposals oriented towards the industrial sector, such as the Lisbon Strategy and the Pla Estratègic Industrial, and supports export and globalization strategies.

Lines of action

Monitoring the development and/or possible revision of the planning tools and the proposals oriented towards the industrial sector, such as the Lisbon Strategy, the Pla Integral of Política Industrial, or the Acord Energètic, amongst others.
Monitoring regulations with a transversal impact on the industrial sector, such as Industrial Safety.
Proposing measures to improve the competitive position of the sector: ensuring the adequate adaptation of regulations, the appropriate deployment of appropriate incentives in investment and innovation, and the framework of the infrastructures necessary for the correct development of the activity (mobility, energy, ICT, industrial parks), as well as the reformation of the job market and the training sector to improve the link between the industrial sector and employment.
Supporting strategies for exporting and globalization.
Promoting social recognition of the industrial activity.
