With this mission, participants in the scholarship program Jump Startup for Women in Deeptech. Biotech and Healthtech, promoted by Foment and the U.S. Consulate General in Barcelona, will attend a meeting at Boston City Hall with the mayor, Michelle Wu, and the chief of Economic Opportunity and Inclusion, Segun Idowu.

Visits to several accelerators are also planned, such as MassChallenge, the largest in the world; InnoVenture Labs, where they will meet its president, Chris Isley, and interact with local entrepreneurs; Engine Ventures, known for its strong academic, commercial, and government network to scale companies tackling major opportunities in climate change and healthcare, where they will also meet its leader, Israel Ruiz; and LabCentral, the first shared laboratory space located in the heart of Cambridge, designed to support top-tier biotech startups in their early stages, where participants will be welcomed by Dr. Johannes Fruehauf, president of the labs.
During the expedition, the employer’s association leader will be accompanied by Foment’s executive director, Laureà Folch; the director of Innovation and Jump Startup for Women in Deeptech, Maria Mora; and the international director, Kilian Garcia.

About Jump Startup for Women in Deeptech
Foment del Treball and the U.S. Consulate General in Barcelona have launched the first edition of Jump Startup for Women in Deeptech. Biotech and Healthtech. The program is supported by ACCIÓ (Government of Catalonia), LEVEL, law firm RCD, and Tech Barcelona.
The Jump Startup program is designed to support 20 outstanding women entrepreneurs in the health and biotechnology sectors in Spain. This program targets emerging, expanding, or spin-off companies (startups and spin-offs) founded within the last 7 years, with operations in Catalonia and aspirations to enter the U.S. market.
In addition to the business mission to Boston, the program will include a series of masterclasses lasting four months and a Demo Day to connect with investors, companies in the sector, and institutions.
Jump Startup for Women was born after recognizing that the health sector is well-established in Catalonia. Previously, three editions of the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs were held, and the projects that participated collectively raised around 60 million euros in funding, demonstrating its positive and direct impact on Catalonia’s economy and innovation ecosystem.
